An Evening with the Bennets: Celebrating 251 Years of Jane Austen

September 26 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Dear Gentle Reader,

As we mark with fanfare the passing of 250 years since the founding of this our shared nation, let us add yet another cause for celebration and contemplation: two hundred fifty-one years of Jane Austen.

While much has changed since Miss Austen last took up her quill pen, the qualities so admired about her novels endure. Indeed, Austen’s insight into human nature and all its contradictions has proven timeless, and her work continues to resonate with readers, writers, and movie-watchers today.

As there is no pleasure superior in the world to that of uniting those with shared appreciation of Jane Austen novels, interest in the Georgian/Regency era, or those simply seeking an evening among their neighbors, it is our dearest wish that you and the perfectly amiable companions of your choice condescend to drive by our humble Library and distinguish us with your patronage on Saturday, September 26 from 6 – 8pm, during which time we shall endeavor ourselves to entertain you with tea, challenges for Austenites, and amusements true to the Regency Era so deftly captured in Miss Austen’s tales.

Kindly RSVP by registering. Guests are encouraged to wear attire inspired by the Regency era (~1795-1820) but let no lack of a bonnet or cravat prevent your attendance.
