soilSHOP Event ~ Free Soil Screening!
May 20 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Protect yourself and your family from lead exposure by having your garden or yard soil tested for free! Lead exposure is dangerous at any level, and yards, gardens, and play areas are common sources of contamination, especially if irrigated using lead pipes.
The soilSHOP team at the MT Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) is setting up shop at the Library and invites community members to receive a free, rapid soil screening, along with one‑on‑one consultations from trained DPHHS staff.
By participating, you’ll gain valuable information to help protect your health and prevent exposures before they happen.
- Bring up to 5 bags of soil in separate clean and clear quart-sized plastic bags
- Plastic bags should be at least half full of soil
- Soil should be dry and free of debris and plant material
- DPHHS staff will screen your soil, provide results, and answer questions
